Kelshi

Kelshi is a small sea-side village, near Dapoli. Famous for it's Mahalaxmi jatra (festival), Sand hillocks and Yakub baba's dargah (7th Guru of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj), Kelshi is actually a 'planned' village, built during the Peshwa era.

The village is actually very small, consisting of 4 primary lanes and a small market. Very notable are the houses and temples- the scale, material and even construction techniques being indigenous and self-sufficient. Also the small canals- a well thought element, built about 200 years ago, and still as effective.

We lived in a place called 'Punyayi'. And Vartak
aajoba, who owns the place, is one interesting character to say the least.
